I realize that the cureent economic climate may make this idea untenable,
but one of the reasons why so many bands migrated from Tribe to MySpace
was because MySpace hosted a few mp3s (and now, videos).
I find that Tribe is such an artistic community, but it is very difficult for musicians or
videographers or DJs to use this environement to help publicize their work
because they are continually forced to go to other sites to post listenables/viewables.
Even if it took some personal subscription money to afford the bandwidth on the part of
Tribe members, I'd certainly be willig to pay some money to have that service.
Otherwise, it just becomes untenable for most musicians and performers to maintain
two or three sites (tribe, myspace, youtube, flickr, vimeo, facebook, et. al. ) for sheer
lack of time.
You have a large population of artists here. I honestly think you'd be vastly more popular
(which would then enhance your revenue stream from both subscribers and advertisers)
if you offered such a service.
I've gone so far as to create ghost Yahoogroups, just to handle audio files for the music tribes
that I'm in, but it just becomes too much work to moderate all those sites.
Is it economically tenable to host mp3s and even ,possible, videos?
