Improvements Pending?

Hi all.

I'm a UK user of tribe, and to my dismay, I can only set 'London', as my local city. The thing is, London is in fact the furthest city away from me, and so it's anything but local. The closest cities to me are Manchester or Liverpool.

I also don't appear to be able to alter my time setting, and if this is the case, this isn't too good for US users either who are not in the same timezone as Tribe administration (or is it only non US users that can't do this?).

I am just wondering, in that we are being expected to subscribe, are there any improvements in the pipeline? I mean, would it really be such a back-breaking task to increase the number of cities available for non US users to choose as their locality, or the adjustment of timezone? I have actually never known a site like this, or forums, on which you cannot change timezones, I thought it was standard.

I like it here very much, but there are many flaws that seem unusual and unnecessary.

I would actually be very keen to subscribe to Tribe, but I won't do so while I get a second rate service, unless of course I get charged half as much.

Tribe isn't fulfilling it's potential. Are any improvements planned?

Thanks.

I'm not a tribe employee, and things may have changed but I know they are busy so I thought I would mention what they have said in the past about the city's. They are based on population on tribe. so when an area gains more people on tribe then a city is added. Or at least past the basic ones they began with that was how they were doing it last I saw.

and just so you don't feel left out no one can change their time(o:

There are improvements in the works, they are working on getting stability problems under control at the moment with some plans for new stuff and also I'm sure fixing some old stuff. but right now there are only 2 tribe employees so I'm thinking we have to sit back and enjoy the conversation for away before they get around to anything that isn't vital right now. Of course the more subscriptions the sooner they can get someone else in there to help I would think.

Thankyou for your response. : )

In order to get certain areas logging on to tribe, instead of just informing people you know, how about also getting stickers sent out to willing parties to be distributed in places like internet cafes, libraries, schools, colleges, workplaces etc. etc. I know someone who had a Tarot site and forum, and she promoted it this way by sending out stickers to advertise the site to willing members who were happy to distribute them in their area. Apparently, this was quite successful. I wonder if you would consider this to be a good idea?

Yes, someone just informed me that tribe only actually has two employees and that they are doing the best they can, I didn't realise that there was such a small team doing all this. Considering this, it's actually pretty good around here, but it would be great for it to get better.

So no-one can change their time. I see. : P

Thanks again for the information. : )

        no problem(o:

I really like the sticker/bumper sticker idea. I try to wear one of my tribe t-shirts whenever I go into the city(San Francisco) and have met people I know on tribe because they were wearing their shirts. Stickers would be alot cheaper and easy to put or leave places. Plus I would love anything tribey.

It's pretty amazing that we are still here having all these great discussions with the stuff tribe's been through and their teeny overworked staff right now. They have all of my respect and appreciation.

I'll see about putting these into the bug tracker. In the meantime, this sort of thing is more appropriate on the Brainstorm tribe.
