in one, the moderator, sadly, has passed on

in the other two, the moderator has left tribe and can't be contacted.

what can we do to either
1) close down a tribe
or
2) change the moderatorship to someone who cares about the community
that is present for the discussions at that tribe and willing to step up to the
moderatorship?

  • I have taken on several "abandoned" tribes, by first contacting the mod, then starting a thread to talk to the members, explaining that the mod is absent, and a voting process can start to elect another mod. After a time, say a week or so, a formal request can be sent to tribe.help, and the new mod will be put in place.

In some tribes however, the members are absent too, so there are discussions for merging similar tribes, to increase activity..-

In any tribe you are able to take a vote and appoint a new moderator,
All you need to do is send a link to that vote to help@tribe.net and Tribe will make the change.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of someone, but if the tribe is still viable then why not try to encourage the members to continue and appoint a new moderator?
      • just start a thread where the outcome is even vaguely to the effect of the tribe decides to elect a new person. I just ran a coup in one tribe
by first challenging the standard bearer and then renegging when some other persons name popped up.

She went and asked for the modship and they gave it to her.

        Its not that hard.

Its in fact so easy that troll groups do the same thing some times.
