Have read that this trend is producing one or two mega-sites where one can go and see all the stuff about you in various social networks. Does Tribe plan to lead or follow?

<<Well the bottom line is we can't stop it>>

I get the idea of tribe listening to its members and being a bit different from the rest - so maybe the management of tribe would listen if many members said tribe should not participate

          You actually can stop it.

Many of those sites have the option for you to join and block certain websites from showing up in your "dossier" so to speak.

Secondly, if you use different email addresses for different reg systems, there is no way for anyone to tie all your profiles together.

are we talking about those one sites where you put in someone's e-mail and it tells you all of the sites they are on that it checks?

cause Tribe doesn't show up on those.

and I created an e-mail just for registering at sites that I never use to e-mail anymore so no one knows it.

or I have no idea what you guys are talking about(o:

Not entirely true--if you use different IPs for your login regularly, that would make it more difficult...if you were using different email addresses.

except that IP's are usually covered in any particular site's privacy policy. Unless the site specifically gives up your email address to some sort of consolidating site, you're fine.

Add to that larger isp's with shared ip addresses like Juno, AOL, etc etc etc, which renders your ip less than solid as an identifier.

Darren... by 'lead' do you mean Tribe is working on a way to prevent our profiles from appearing on these 'social network consolidation' sites?

We've had this conversation in another tribe, and I'm still not entirely clear on how I can prevent my Tribe profile from appearing on these sites (like ex.plode.us for example). I've made almost all of my blogs and pics 'friends only' but I shouldn't have to do that. I would like very much for my Tribe profile to only appear on Tribe. Is that possible?
