If a review needs to be deleted, send a message to help@tribe.net and we will evaluate the request. In general, we cannot delete content "just because" but if a review that is yours needs to be removed, we will do so.

Patti or another former employee might be able to explain the basis behind the original user interface decision on this.

he big problem wasn't reviews, but recommendations. They have been around forever and it's not a great system.

They were meant to generate reviews, but all theey did was get used a few times and when people realized that when they get a recommendation for "something fun to do this friday" that it will be there for years and years, and the whole system stopped getting used.

Shouldn't be any reason to get rid of a review. If you decide that something you reviewed needs updating, you can add a new entry/edit old one. Something like that.

Hmm... we use dto edit them all the time.

Maybe that's just the original review and not the comment ones.

Listings and events can be edited. Reviews can only be added to by other reviewers.

We cannot take down content just because someone doesn't like what's been said -- that would be suppressing free speech. We are willing to remove content upon the original author's request or in cases of copyright violation with an official take-down notice.

In principle, we follow the TOU and Code of Conduct as it pertains to the obligations for using the current Cisco-owned platform. When the platform changes, expect the TOU and COC to be amended accordingly.

I went into a review I started and was able to edit everything including the attached picture, so that much still functions.

              I haven't tried editing a review I've made.

had thought that if you went to one you already reviewed you could write a new one and it would replace the old, but I might be thinking of another site.

I think updating reviews isn't a bad thing. Cas ein point I started leaving some nasty online reviews of zip zoom fly who I use dto sing their praises of. Over the last year they have gone for decent to HORRID as far as customer service is concerned. So, had I made aglowing review for them in '07 I would want to update it to reflect that now, they utterly and completely suck eggs.

Hvaing a hostory of the reviews is good though, so that in this cas eyou could look back and see that people liked them, however that as time went on they started getting more and more bad ones, including from peopel who previously loved them.

Something to earmark for the next rev I suppose.

And it can work in the reverse. Some business that starts off with bad reviews could adjust their service level or products or staff to earn good reviews.

Since this IS a public site, those reviews could be found by the business owner. And the business owner or manager could make changes based on the reviews. As well as joining tribe and commenting that they HAVE changed whatever was not so good.

For instance: A cafe manager can mention in a response to bad reviews that they have updated their menu and offer a limited time discount for anyone who mentions Tribe. Or something like a free soda or ice tea by asking for the Tribe Special.
